Terms of Service
Last updated: July 15, 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
FINDTHEM is operated by Greater Good Systems, LLC, doing business as FindThem (“FindThem”, “we”, “us”). We operate find-them.org and the family case websites hosted on its subdomains (together, the “Platform”). The Platform is technology we provide to nonprofit partner organizations (“Partners”) that serve families of missing people: verified case websites, volunteer-coordination tools, and training content for the Partner's own coordinators. Families use the Platform through a Partner, after a missing-person report has been filed with law enforcement.
By using the Platform — browsing a case site, claiming a volunteer task, requesting help through a Partner, or signing in — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
Some roles are governed by additional documents that control over these terms for that role: Partners by the Partner Agreement and any capability addenda they accept (including the Search Operations and Coordinator Program addenda) and the Data Processing Agreement; family account owners by the Family Agreement; and task volunteers by the Volunteer Agreement.
2. What FindThem is — and is not
FindThem provides software and training content. The response around a missing person is run by the family and the Partner supporting them — not by us. In particular:
- We are not law enforcement. We do not take missing-person reports, investigate disappearances, or collect tips or sightings. Sightings and information about a disappearance must go to the law-enforcement tip line listed on the relevant case site, or to 911 for an in-progress sighting.
- We do not organize, direct, or supervise searches or any in-person activity. Any field activity is conducted by a Partner under its own authority and responsibility, as set out in its agreements with us.
- We do not recruit, employ, vet, assign, or supervise the coordinators or volunteers who help on a case. They are the Partner's, the family's, or their own — never ours.
- We do not guarantee any outcome. Locating a missing person is not within our control, and nothing on the Platform is a promise of results.
- We are not a substitute for professional advice. Nothing provided through the Platform is legal, investigative, medical, or psychological advice.
3. The people and organizations on the Platform
Five roles interact here. Understanding who is responsible for what protects everyone:
- FindThem (Greater Good Systems, LLC)— provides the Platform and training content, verifies Partners' nonprofit status, and can suspend content or access to protect families, volunteers, or an investigation. Software and training only.
- Partners— independent nonprofit organizations that vet and sponsor families, run the response, and own the relationship with the people who help. A Partner is not FindThem's agent, and FindThem is not the Partner's.
- Coordinators — people who guide a family through the platform and help organize the response. Coordinators act for the Partner organization that engages them (or, where applicable, directly for the family) — they are not FindThem personnel, and they are not investigators, search commanders, attorneys, or family spokespeople.
- Volunteers — community members who claim specific tasks on a case site. Volunteers are unpaid, participate at their own choice and risk, and answer to the family and the sponsoring Partner — not to FindThem.
- Families — the family account owner controls the case site, approves what gets published, and is responsible for the accuracy of what they share.
4. Eligibility and accounts
- Access to accounts is by invitation: families join through a Partner-issued invite; Partner staff are added by their organization's admin or by FindThem; volunteers claim public tasks without an account.
- You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account, request a case site, or claim a volunteer task.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
5. Family case sites
- Case sites are available only after a missing-person report has been filed with law enforcement, and are sponsored by a Partner that vets the family's request. When a family requests a case site, they certify that a report has been filed and that they are authorized to act for the family.
- Vetting is the sponsoring Partner's responsibility; FindThem may additionally verify a report with the named agency but does not determine whether a person is genuinely missing and does not validate every factual claim.
- The family account owner controls the case site's content and approves publication. Families are responsible for the accuracy of the information they publish and for having the right to share any photos or materials they upload.
- FindThem may unpublish a case site, pause updates, or restrict access at any time — for example at the request of law enforcement, when information is disputed, or when these terms are violated.
6. Acceptable use
When using the Platform you agree not to:
- interfere with an active law-enforcement investigation, or represent yourself as law enforcement or as acting on FindThem's or a Partner's behalf without authorization;
- organize or encourage unauthorized searches of private property, confrontations, or any vigilante activity;
- harass, threaten, dox, or publicly accuse any person in connection with a case;
- post information you know to be false or disputed, or share sensitive details (such as search locations or family contact information) that the family, the Partner, or law enforcement has asked to keep private;
- use the Platform to collect personal information about others, send spam, or misrepresent your identity when claiming tasks;
- attempt to probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Platform or other users' data.
7. Volunteering
- Volunteering is entirely voluntary and unpaid. You choose which tasks to claim, and you participate at your own risk.
- Organized field activities (such as search days) are conducted by Partners that have accepted responsibility for them, require registration and acknowledgment of a liability waiver, and must follow the instructions of the organizing Partner and any law-enforcement personnel present.
- Never put yourself or others in danger. Do not enter private property without permission, and report anything significant to law enforcement — not to social media.
- Task completion may be reviewed and verified by the case team. Claiming a task is a commitment; repeated no-shows may result in removal from a case's volunteer pool.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you submit (photos, updates, descriptions). By submitting it you grant FindThem a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating the Platform and supporting the case it belongs to — including on the public case site and in materials such as flyers and social-media previews. We may remove any content at our discretion.
9. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Case content is provided by families, Partners, and volunteers; FindThem does not warrant its accuracy or completeness. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Greater Good Systems, LLC and its members, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Platform or participation in any volunteer or field activity — including the acts or omissions of Partners, their coordinators, or volunteers, who are independent of FindThem. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to $100 or the minimum permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold FindThem harmless from claims arising out of content you submit, your violation of these terms, or your participation in volunteer activities, except to the extent caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct. Partners' indemnification obligations are set out in the Partner Agreement and its addenda.
12. Changes, termination, and governing law
- We may update these terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above will change and continued use constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be announced on the Platform.
- We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform at any time for violations of these terms or to protect families, volunteers, or an investigation.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
